3rd class have been developing their engineering skills and with the guidance of the STEPS Engineering project, they came up with an idea to make Dunnamaggin better and people's lives easier.

The groups created a prototype of their designs snd presented them to local engineer; Shane Aylward.

The 2 projects were "The Helping Hand", an invention for older people to use to reach down for things that may be on the ground or up high - out of their reach. The boys felt it would be a a great help for their older grandparents and hopefully keep them safe from falls or injury.

The second group designed "Posts & Pages", a noticeboard for the people of the village - to keep them updated on what's going on and news in the locality. The notice board has a dual design; a digital board (which messages can be sent to by a phone or computer) and a paper/ notice board for posters etc. The notice board also has a book swap compartment which allows people swap books.

The boys did tremendous work on both projects.
