Green-Schools Marine Environment Committee
The Green-Schools Committee met to finalise their environmental review. The researched marine animals and created a fact-file about their chosen animal. They then went to other classes to inform pupils about marine animals and the threats to their habitats and to their survival. The Green-Schools Committee will now identify goals and provide a structured timetable in their Action Plan.

STRIPE YOUNG SCIENTIST FAIR
Last Thursday, 3rd Class had a fantastic day at the Stripe Primary Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS, Dublin, where they proudly presented their project titled “Food Detectives – What’s in Our Food?”. Roinn C Football Champions
Congratulations to Dunnamaggin who captured the Roinn C Boys Football Final yesterday evening with a hard-fought victory over a gallant Kilmacow side in very challenging wet conditions in Piltown. Christmas Concert Celebration 🎄
Congratulations to all the children on a truly wonderful Christmas concert today. The pupils brought the Christmas Story to life beautifully in the church, creating a very special and memorable occasion for everyone present. STEAM - Snowball Fight
3rd Class designed and built catapults! They then tested their catapults by "throwing" pom poms and marshmallows. We tested their launching abilities in the hall, both on the ground (flat) and standing (tilted). We then had a "snowball fight".

Santa Visits St Leonard's 🎅
Santa Claus arrived into school on Monday with his reindeer and elf on tow! The excitement was electric! Santa confirmed thst all the boys and girls in Dunnamaggin are on the 'Nice List" and just asked that they leave a carrot out for Rudolph. Merry Christmas Santa and safe travels next week. Many thanks to the Parents Association for providing selection boxes for all the children. All proceeds from the festive visit are going towards Crumlin Children's hospital.

3rd Class are Food Detectives!
3rd Class have been very busy learning about various foods and how to read food tables and nutritional information. They put labels/ foods into groups and then put the foods in each category into healthiest to unhealthiest. It was amazing what they discovered and they were shocked themselves as to what they considered healthy!!

Author Visit - TJ Murphy
On Thursday we had a very exciting visitor; local author TJ Reid came to talk to our classes about his books and how he became an author. He read a chapter from his book, "Demon Wars" and we brought his just published new book also. Lots of questions, lots of interest and lots of inspiration to start writing stories and books ensued. 3rd class Shine in their STEPS Engineering Project
Over the past few months, 3rd class have been busy thinking, questioning, sketching and building as part of the STEPS Engineering Project . Five enthusiastic teams took on the challenge of designing something that could make life easier, safer, or more fun. Science Week Trip
On Thursday, Mrs Langton and Mrs Croke's classes set off on an exciting Science Week adventure. Our first stop was Dunmore Caves , where we enjoyed a guided tour deep underground. We saw impressive stalagmites and stalactites, and learned about the 700 bats that live there. We also discovered that Viking remains had once been found in the caves, adding a fascinating historical twist to the visit. Next, we travelled to Castlecomer Discovery Park to take part in their Science
