Last Thursday, 3rd Class had a fantastic day at the Stripe Primary Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS, Dublin, where they proudly presented their project titled “Food Detectives – What’s in Our Food?”.
Through their project, the pupils explored what is really in the food we eat every day. They carried out a range of engaging experiments, including investigating which foods deteriorate fastest, examining grease spots to identify hidden fats, observing mould growth on different types of bread, and analysing food labels to better understand ingredients, sugar and fat content. These hands-on investigations helped the children develop important scientific skills while encouraging healthy, informed choices about food.
The class represented our school exceptionally well on the day. They spoke with great confidence, enthusiasm and knowledge, clearly explaining their experiments to judges, visitors and members of the public. Their excellent teamwork and presentation skills were widely praised.
To top off a memorable experience, the pupils even featured in the Irish Independent newspaper on Friday — a wonderful achievement and a proud moment for our whole school community. Well done to all involved! 👏🧪
